Dr. Cricket Russillo founded High Performance Equine in 2023 after more than 20 years dedicated to equine sports medicine and performance care. Her practice focuses on helping show jumpers and dressage horses achieve peak performance through advanced diagnostics, lameness evaluation, regenerative medicine, and ultrasound-guided treatments.

From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Russillo served as the US Equestrian Dressage Team Veterinarian. She also became a Certified Member of the International Society for Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP) in 2019, reflecting her commitment to excellence in diagnosing and treating complex lameness cases.

Dr. Russillo earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and completed a Large Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at Texas A&M University in 2002.

Dr. Amy Rand grew up on the Connecticut shoreline, where she caught the horse bug at the early age of 8 years old. She spent her childhood eventing and just generally enjoying being around horses whenever possible.

She went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Biology and Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Connecticut. While at UConn, Dr. Rand had the opportunity to compete and show with the UConn Dressage team.

Originally having started as a pre-med student, Dr. Rand’s love for animals, specifically horses, drove her down the veterinary path. This lead her to Ireland, where she completed her veterinary degree at the University College Dublin in 2024. While in veterinary school, Dr. Rand had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Lisa Katz’s research team through a summer research grant, which culminated in her being an author on a publication assessing the prospective categorization of maternal care style in thoroughbred broodmares.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Rand completed a year long equine rotating internship at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinic in Salinas, CA.

After having completed her internship, Dr. Rand joined the High Performance Equine team as a Sports Medicine Fellow with the goals of gaining a specialized sports medicine education.

Dr. Rand has always known that she wanted to work with horses, specifically sport horses. Her interests include lameness, imaging, and performance horse medicine.

When not taking care of horses, Dr. Rand enjoys visiting local coffee shops, going to the beach (when in FL), and exploring where she lives. She loves movies and music. She is an avid cat lover and is currently on the hunt for two new feline friends!

A 2017 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Grady brings expertise in sport horse medicine and a certification in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VSMT). VSMT is a specialized chiropractic care that focuses on restoring full mobility, relieving tension, and optimizing nervous system function in your equine athletes. Whether your horse is competing at the highest levels or recovering from an injury, Dr. Grady’s targeted adjustments will help enhance their comfort, flexibility, and overall performance. We are excited to offer this powerful modality to support your training goals and keep your horses feeling their absolute best.

Kathryn grew up in Columbia, MD sharing a love for sailing and traveling with her family. She was the only one who received the horse bug much to her parent’s surprise. Life has been horseshows, pony club, and Breyer horses ever since. Her love for eventing drew her to Otterbein University where she graduated with a Batchelor in Equine Pre-Veterinary medicine. A thoroughbred sales project, who did not enjoy cross country, persuaded her to switch to hunter/jumpers and she hasn’t looked back (sorry eventers). Deciding she wanted to take “short” hiatus and play with ponies turned into an adventure on the show circuit as an FEI groom, rider and freelancer. Having previously worked for Dr. Russillo in 2017 for a winter season in Wellington, she decided to join the team again in 2023. She’s recently horseless, but is happy to love on all the clients horses.

Jess was raised in Hawaii and now calls Middleburg, Virginia, home. She began working as a veterinary technician alongside Dr. Russillo in 2019 and joined Dr. Russillo at High Performance Equine when the practice was established. Outside of work, Jess enjoys competing her two horses, Mousse and Fireball, in the jumpers and spending time with her dogs, Knight and Pele. Her dedication to the horses and clients she works with makes her a valued member of the High Performance Equine team.
